Each Monday I will be featuring one of this year’s incoming freshmen so that Bruin fans can get to know a little about them before the pre-season training begins.
We are kicking off the “Meet the Freshmen” series this week with former elite gymnast, Kalyany Steele!
Kalyany Steele was born in Walnut Creek, Calif. on Feb. 12, 2001, and hails from Colorado Springs, Colorado. She trained at Colorado Aerials with coaches Kathy Vigil and Jason Baits.
Steele started gymnastics at the age of six and reached level 10 by the age of thirteen. She competed elite for two years in 2016 as a junior and in 2017 as a senior, where she tied for third in the all-around competition at the U.S. Classic.
